Challenges!

A message from Steve Wright . . .

Challenges are both good and bad aren’t they?

Our students have been challenged all week in many ways spiritually. Priorities, pray, surrender, missions, and spending time in God’s Word.

Our students (outside of camp) face many challenges as well. Have you ever thought of how much things have changed since we were teenagers? Just the thought makes my head spin. Camp is a huge highlight of my year for many reasons and a reminder of our children’s struggles. This week I have sat down with students and I have heard from counselors who have reminded me again of the many issues that our children face.

Fortunately for most of the children God has placed you and I as parents to intercede on our children’s behalf!

Now I want to challenge you. If the challenges at camp have been good for our children at camp they are also good for you and me.

Here is the challenge. Tonight you will have the opportunity to get on your knees with other parents to pray for your children. Now I’m sure some of you are saying “Steve, I would like to come, but I’m busy.”

Tuesday night we had our first Impact @ Home. Seven parents came out. Two were the home owners, two were the Impact @ Home directors, two were asked to lead this past Tuesday’s prayer time and the 7th person was my wife. What do you think?

If I might be totally transparent with you for a moment . . . when this was reported to me I was burdened maybe because I felt that there should have been more present.

Again I want to invite you to partner with us in ministry. The parents here with me need you to join us. I would like to hear that so many showed up to pray tonight that the house couldn’t hold them.

You may ask if it really is that important. I would like to share with my leaders later tonight that you feel that it is.

- Steve

Quick Reminder from Steve

We need to be encouraged as believers to not be passive in our response to this repulsive show.  The men below have the power to preempt this show, however, at this point in time, they believe the public views the show as ‘tolerable’ and there, needing no action from them.

On Thursdays, CBS has launched a new summer program, “Swingtown” which is being touted by the network as “intriguing, summer fun”.

There is nothing “fun” about the show – rather it is repugnant and destructive and one of the worst, if not the worst, show we’ve seen on network television.  “Swingtown”, set in 1976, portrays “open marriage” and group sex as not only commonplace, but also as a boost for marital intimacy.  It also ignores the facts regarding the addictive, damaging impact of pornography and gives the message that porn use, even by young boys, is no big deal.
